PRINCIPAL SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS:

Demonstration of extremely high aspect-ratio sub-micrometer hotoresist gratings using interferometric lithography, investigation of momentum-gaps in the surface plasma wave dispersion relation by using grating coupling, demonstration of highly absorptive behavior of metal and Si gratings over broad angular and spectral variations, extension of single exposure interferometric lithography to multiple exposures for synthesis of a variety of 1-D and 2-D structures, development of Si nano-fabrication and characterization techniques, room temperature electroluminescence from Si quantum wires, development of grating and speckle temperature measurements of Si, development of random RIE textured surfaces for solar cells, diffraction gratings in solar cells, self-assembly of Au nanospheres in SiO2 nanowires, thin-film solar cells, wafer slicing methods, heteroepitaxy on nanostructured Si substrates, development of vapor etching methods for several material systems, and RE-based electricity generation systems.

OTHER PRINCIPAL ACHIEVEMENTS:

Founder and CEO of Gratings, Inc., an R & D company primed for transition into a viable business with marketable products in dry texturing tools, low-power (~ 2-3 W) and high ~175 Wp solar panels, advances in solar cell research and fabrication through multi-vapor approach, and nanotechnology development.

FINANCIALS:

Has been the PI on three Phase II awards, one phase IIB (from NSF), ten phase I awards, has raised over $ 3 Million in revenues through federal and private funding avenues.

PUBLICATIONS:

over 50 refereed publications, 27 patents, extensive field work overseas and in US.

GOALS:

Develop inxepnsive RE-based microgrid technologies.
